You fall in love, head to the shop, and buy the preset set of your dreams. You download the presets and want to edit your latest photos on your mobile device immediately. Suddenly, your excitement stops, as you don’t know how to add presets to Lightroom Mobile.

How to add presets to Lightroom Mobile – A guide.

We created this guide to help you add your purchased presets in five easy steps to your Lightroom mobile. It’s super simple, and you can keep your excitement without questioning if you made a wrong purchase. Just follow these five steps to make everything work and to know how to add presets to Lightroom Mobile!

Step No.1  – Unzip The Preset Files

One important thing you need to know from the start: The preset files for mobile versions are DNG files. First, could you localize the zipped file with the presets you’ve downloaded from a preset store (Meridian Presets, e.g.) on your hard drive? If you have downloaded the file on a mobile device running Android, you will need an additional app (WinZip, e.g.) to unzip the folder with the preset files on your device. Apple has an integrated Unzip tool, so you must click on the file to start unzipping when using an iPhone/iPad.

Of course, you can also use your computer for this step. Start the unzipping process on macOS with a simple double-click on the zipped file. If you use a Windows computer, right-click on the file and select “extract all” from the drop-down menu.

Please note: When you unzip the folder with the files on the computer, you will need to make sure that you save it in iCloud/Dropbox, e.g., so that you can access the unzipped folder from your mobile device, where you also have the same cloud storage app installed.

Did you unzip the folder with the presets directly on your mobile device? Perfect! So, where did you save them on your mobile device (DNG files usually appear in the camera roll)?

Step No. 3 – Add The Preset Files Into LR Mobile

You have downloaded, unzipped, and saved the folder with the presets. It is time for step No.3 – Adding the preset file into LR Mobile.

  1. Open your Lightroom app on your mobile device. Please ensure that you are in the LIBRARY of the app (1).
  2. Click on the three dots (…) in the top right corner (2).

3. A menu will open when you click “Add Photos” (3).
4. You must select the right option based on how you saved the DNG files in Step No. 2 of our guide.

   From Camera Roll: Select your mobile device’s DNG files “From Camera Roll” if you saved the preset files directly on your device (4.1).

   From Files: If you used iCloud Storage or Dropbox to save the preset files, please select “From Files” to add the presets to LR mobile (4.2).

5. If one of the steps is done correctly, you’ll see the imported DNG file added to your library in Lightroom (5).

Step No. 4 – Use The Preset Files To Save Them In LR Mobile

Keep it up! You are only one step away from using the presets on your mobile device. Click on the DNG file you’ve just added to your library. After that, click again on the three dots in the top right corner (6) and select “Create Preset” from the menu (7).

It’s time to give the imported preset file a name (8). We recommend using the DNG file’s name and creating a Preset group (9). This way, you can keep your presets structured and avoid searching your new presets in the User Presets section.

Save everything with a click in the top right corner (10) and repeat these steps for each preset file (DNG).

Step No. 5 – Start Using Your New Presets In LR Mobile

Congratulations – The hard work is done! Now is the time to finally enjoy your new presets on your mobile device. Select a photo of your choice you want to edit with the presets. Click on Presets (11), select your favorite preset, and apply it to your image. Please always remember that presets are a helpful tool to get a specific look. Depending on light conditions, exposure, etc., you may need to adjust the sliders for a perfect look.

Existing Client-Print Strategy // We will try to make this as short as possible, so all of you lazy readers still get an idea about this. During the past weeks, we talked to a lot of creatives from our community to figure out what they do to generate income at the moment.

After gathering all of the info, we concluded that print & album sales to existing clients were the smartest and most profitable way to generate income. We will put our focus on wedding albums in this example. 

The mission was simple! Find a unique product that offers high quality, a high-profit margin & must be quick and easy to make to create income right away, while fulfilling the needs of your clients!

The Perfect Product

During our research, we stumbled upon a product from Floricolor, an album company from Portugal. We compared other companies in that market and found no comparable product in terms of price and quality.

Floricolor is currently offering a specific album that aims at photographers during this pandemic, the so-called Bold collection 150!

What’s so special about it, you ask? First of all, you receive three albums for any order you make! Yes, you heard right, three albums that start at 99 Euro! You will receive one main album sized 30×25 cm and two copies of it sized 24×20 cm. If that wasn’t good enough, listen to this.

Each album consists of 150 pages with one image per page layout! You do not have to focus on specific album designs and send over proofs to your clients for them to accept.

The Approach

The first thing you have to decide is whether you need a sample album to take photos to show your clients or just use the info on the Floricolor page. This might depend on how quickly you would need to generate income. If you feel that you can wait for 1-2 weeks to receive a sample album, we recommend doing that so you can use your own images in a sample album, check the quality and take product photos.

Once you figured that out, try to come up with the best way to approach your clients. We did some tests and asked our own previous clients how they would feel about it if we would contact them offering an album at the moment. None of them had an issue about it, they understood the situation and were happy to support their photographer.

We really hope you could take something away from our article. There is no need to use our recommended product but our focus was to find something that creates a large amount of profit with the lowest amount of work, therefore we picked a cheap product with no album design needed!
