How To Plan A Destination Wedding

So you’re engaged and thinking about planning a destination wedding – congrats! Destination weddings are a great way to make your special day even more memorable, but they can also be a bit overwhelming to plan.

Don’t worry, though; we’ve got you covered. In this blog post, we’ll break down all the key things you need to know how to plan a destination wedding of your dreams without losing your mind. So grab your fiancé or fiancée, and let’s get started!

Decide on a location

Deciding on a location for your destination wedding is one of the most exciting parts of the planning process. There are so many beautiful countries and continents to choose from, it can be tough to narrow it down. However, it is the most important one in the process of how to plan a destination wedding.

Europe and Asia are both popular choices for destination weddings. Europe has a ton of romantic cities, like Paris and Venice, as well as charming countryside destinations like Tuscany and the French Riviera. Asia is also a great option, with countries like Thailand and Bali offering beautiful beaches and lush jungles.

North America is also a great option, with options like Mexico and the Caribbean offering beautiful beaches and all-inclusive resorts.

If you’re looking for an exotic destination, Africa and South America are also great choices. Africa has a variety of options, from beach destinations like Mozambique and Seychelles, to safari destinations like South Africa and Tanzania. South America is home to some of the world’s most beautiful countries, like Brazil and Peru, with stunning beaches, lush jungles, and historic cities.

Looking at specific areas for your destination wedding, Italy offers a range of options for couples. From the picturesque countryside of Tuscany to the romantic canals of Venice, Italy is a classic destination for destination weddings.

France is another popular destination. With the charming villages of Provence and the glamour of the French Riviera, it has something for everyone. Thailand is a truly exotic destination, with the stunning beaches of Phuket and the ancient temples of Bangkok. It is one of the most beautiful places to get married.

Mexico offers a variety of options for your big day, from the lush jungles of the Riviera Maya to the white-sand beaches of Cancun.

Bali is a popular destination for destination weddings, known for its beautiful beaches, lush jungles, and traditional culture. It is a paradise for couples who want an exotic and memorable wedding.

The Budget

Budgeting for a destination wedding can be tricky, especially since there are so many factors to consider. Of course, the number of guests is a big one, but there are a few other things to keep in mind when you ask yourself in the process of how to plan a destination wedding.

First off, the location you choose can have a significant impact on the budget. Some places are naturally more expensive than others, and it’s essential to factor that into your planning. For example, getting married in a popular tourist destination like Paris or Hawaii will be more expensive than in a lesser-known location.

Another thing to consider is the time of year you’re getting married. For example, if you’re planning a summer wedding in a beachy destination, you can expect prices to be higher than if you were getting married in the off-season.

The type of wedding you’re planning can also affect the budget. For example, if you’re going for a more elaborate, formal wedding, you can expect to spend more than if you were planning a more low-key, casual wedding.

And of course, the type of accommodation you choose can also have an impact. So, for example, if you’re planning to stay in a fancy resort or a luxury villa, that’s going to cost more than if you were staying in a more budget-friendly option.

It’s also worth mentioning that you can save money by booking the wedding package from the hotel or venue. This is because it often includes catering, decorations, and other necessary services.

It’s essential to have a clear idea of what you want and are willing to spend before you start planning your destination wedding. That way, you can make informed decisions and avoid budget surprises.

The costs of a destination wedding can vary greatly, and it’s hard to give an exact estimate without knowing all the details. In addition, the prices can change over time due to various factors, such as inflation, currency fluctuations, and even global events like COVID-19.

They might be lower before the pandemic. Still, due to the economic impact of the pandemic, the prices may have increased. Also, the prices of goods and services are subject to change, whether the cost of food, decorations, or transportation.

It’s also worth noting that currency exchange rates can affect the cost of a destination wedding. For example, if you’re planning a wedding in a country where the currency is stronger than your own, it can make things more expensive. It’s always best to research and keep an eye on prices as you plan your destination wedding. That way, you’ll have a better idea of what to expect and can adjust your budget accordingly.

In conclusion, it’s hard to estimate the costs of a destination wedding without knowing all the details.

It is your day

One of the most important things to remember when planning a destination wedding is that it’s YOUR special day. Therefore, it’s crucial to ensure that you follow your dreams and wishes, not just try to please everyone else.

Sure, articles like this “How To Plan A Destination Wedding” can be a great source of inspiration, but don’t feel you have to follow every rule or tradition. Make it your own!

And don’t let anyone pressure you into inviting a million guests or getting married in a location you’re not crazy about. Of course, it’s great to have your loved ones there to celebrate with you, but ultimately, it’s your wedding day, and you should do what makes you and your partner happy.

It’s also worth considering a more intimate destination wedding, with only a few close friends or family members. This can make your special day even more special and create memories that last a lifetime.

Remember, this is your special day. You should make it as unique as you want it to be. Don’t let anyone else dictate your choices. Follow your heart, and you’ll have a wedding day that you’ll remember forever.

Checklist For Destination Wedding – 10 Amazing Tips!

Destination weddings are a growing trend among couples looking to tie the knot in a unique and exotic location. Whether it’s a beachfront ceremony in the Caribbean or a romantic getaway in the European countryside, getting married in a beautiful place away from home can make for an unforgettable experience. But planning a destination wedding can be a bit more complicated than a traditional wedding, so it’s essential to be organized and have a checklist to keep track of everything.

In this blog post, we’ll review some critical items to include in your destination wedding checklist to help make the planning process as smooth and stress-free as possible.

Guest list

Make a list of who you want to invite and keep track of their RSVPs.

Decide on a rough number of guests you want to invite. This will help you narrow down your venue options and budget accordingly.
List all the people you want to invite, including immediate family, close friends, and other important people.
Keep track of who has RSVP’d and who hasn’t. This will help you plan seating arrangements and ensure you have enough food and drink for everyone.

Consider the accommodation options for your guests. If you’re having a destination wedding, your guests will likely need to book a hotel room or rental property. Make sure to provide them with a list of recommended places to stay.

Also, keep your guests informed about the wedding details, including the date, location, and any critical information they need.

Remember that destination weddings can be more expensive for guests, so ensure you communicate all the information about the wedding so guests can plan accordingly.

Be realistic about who will be able to attend. Remember that not everyone can make the trip, and that’s okay.

Plan for different scenarios, such as a trimmer or virtual wedding, to keep your guests informed and engaged.

Venue

Research and choose the perfect location for your ceremony and reception.

When choosing a venue for a destination wedding, the options are endless! You can go for a classic beach wedding and say “I do” with the sound of the waves in the background, or choose a luxurious tropical resort surrounded by lush gardens. If you prefer a more rustic and natural look, you can opt for a countryside venue like a vineyard or a barn.

If you want a more urban feel, consider a rooftop terrace, historic building, or modern hotel. You can also choose an all-inclusive resort that offers accommodation, food, and event space, making planning much more manageable. You can consider a mountain venue or a cruise ship for a more adventurous option! And if you’re looking for something more intimate, you can opt for a private villa or a castle. And if you are looking for a unique experience, you can opt for a glamping venue.

The possibilities are endless, depending on your style, location, and culture. Be sure to research different venues and find one that fits your vision for your wedding.

Travel arrangements

Make travel arrangements for yourself, your wedding party, and your guests.

Regarding travel arrangements for a destination wedding, there are a few key things to remember. First, you’ll want to ensure you and your wedding party have all the necessary travel arrangements, including flights, transportation, and accommodation. It’s also essential to ensure your guests have all the information they need to make travel arrangements, such as recommended flights and nearby accommodation options.

You’ll also want to think about transportation for the wedding day. Will you need a ride for yourself, your wedding party, and your guests to and from the ceremony and reception venues? And if you have guests coming from different locations, consider group transportation options. Finally, it’s also essential to consider any necessary documents, such as a passport or visa, and ensure that you and your guests have everything in order.

Planning all these details can take some time, but a good organization will save you from stress and hassle.

Legal Requirements

Research and meet any legal requirements for getting married in your chosen location.

Regarding legal requirements for a destination wedding, it’s essential to remember that they can vary depending on the location. Some countries have different laws and regulations regarding marriage and may require additional documentation or steps. It’s a good idea to research the legal requirements for your chosen location and ensure you meet all the necessary criteria. For example, you may need to provide proof of citizenship, blood tests, or have a translator present at your wedding ceremony.

It’s also important to remember that some locations have waiting periods, so give yourself enough time to complete all the necessary steps. In addition, it’s a good idea to hire a wedding planner or a legal expert to guide you through the process. It may seem like a lot of work, but ensuring everything is in order and your wedding day goes smoothly is worth it.

Budget

Create a budget and stick to it.

A destination wedding can be more expensive than a traditional wedding. It’s a good idea to create a budget, stick to it, and consider all the costs involved, such as venue rental, travel, accommodation, food, and entertainment. It’s also important to remember that your guests will have additional expenses, such as travel and accommodation, so make sure to factor that into your budget.

It’s a good idea to clearly understand what you want and what you are willing to spend on each aspect of the wedding and try to stick to it. It’s also essential to have a contingency plan for unexpected costs.

Wedding planner

Consider hiring a wedding planner to help with the planning and coordination.

Hiring a wedding planner for your destination wedding can be a great idea because it can take a lot of the stress and hassle out of planning. Wedding planners have experience and knowledge of the local area, vendors, and legal requirements and can help you navigate the process and ensure that everything runs smoothly. They can also help you find the best deals and stay within your budget.

A wedding planner can also be an excellent resource for ideas and help you personalize your wedding to reflect your style and vision. The coordination and communication on the wedding day, allowing you to relax and enjoy your special day, is also a good point that shouldn’t be underestimated. Overall, a wedding planner can be valuable in making your destination wedding a memorable and stress-free experience.

Event details

Plan the details of the ceremony and reception, including flowers, music, and photography.

Depending on the location, legal requirements, and availability of vendors, it’s generally recommended to start planning at least 6-12 months. This will give you enough time to research and book the perfect venue, make travel arrangements, and handle legal requirements. It will also give you time to plan the ceremony and reception details, such as flowers, music, and photography.

Your guests will also have enough time to make travel arrangements and plan for additional expenses. Starting your planning early ensures everything is in order and your wedding day goes smoothly.

Accommodation

Research and arrange accommodation for yourself, your wedding party, and your guests.

Regarding accommodation for a destination wedding, ensuring everyone has a comfortable and convenient place to stay is essential. This includes yourself, your wedding party, and your guests. Researching and arranging accommodation options that fit your budget and guests’ preferences is essential. You can consider options like hotels, rental properties, or all-inclusive resorts.

It’s also a good idea to provide your guests with a list of recommended places to stay and ensure they know any group or package deals available. It’s also important to consider the distance of the accommodation to the wedding venues and arrange transportation to and from them.

By planning and ensuring that everyone has a comfortable place to stay, you can ensure that your wedding day goes smoothly and that your guests have a great time.

Communication

Create a wedding website and keep in touch with your guests to ensure they have all the necessary information.

Creating a wedding website helps keep your guests informed and organized. It’s a one-stop shop where guests can find all the information they need about your wedding, such as the date, location, dress code, and accommodation options.

It also allows you to provide information about travel arrangements. It can be a great way to communicate with your guests, answering any questions about the wedding.

Additionally, many wedding website platforms include an RSVP feature, which makes it easy for guests to RSVP and for you to keep track of attendance. You can also have a gift registry, share photos and videos of the wedding, and keep your guests informed about any updates or changes.

Overall, a wedding website is a great way to keep your guests informed and organized, and it can make the planning process a lot easier for you and your guests.

Relax and enjoy

Remember to take some time for yourself and enjoy the planning process.

The most crucial point of all!

Start your checklist today!

We understand that planning a destination wedding can be overwhelming, but a checklist is a great tool to keep you organized and on track.

Remember to take things one step at a time, and don’t hesitate to ask for help from friends, family, or a professional planner. Finally, and most importantly, don’t lose sight of why you’re planning this wedding.
It’s a celebration of love and commitment. It may take some effort, but it will be worth having the wedding of your dreams in the end.

Whether you plan your Italy destination wedding entirely on your own or hire local vendors or a wedding planner depends on your preferences and budget.

Planning your wedding alone can be a great way to save money, but it can also be challenging. There are many things to consider when planning a destination wedding, including legal requirements, finding the right vendors, and coordinating all the logistics. It can be a lot to handle, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the area.

Hiring local vendors or a wedding planner can help ease some of the stress and make your wedding planning process much more manageable. Local vendors and wedding planners have the experience and connections to help you navigate the legal requirements, find the right vendors, and coordinate all the logistics. They also know the local area well and can suggest unique venues and activities for you and your guests.

That being said, hiring a wedding planner or local vendors can be costly. So, it’s essential to consider your budget and figure out what makes the most sense.

Overall, the advantages of hiring local vendors and wedding planners for your Italy destination wedding are that it can take a lot of stress out of the planning process, and they have the knowledge and experience to ensure your day runs smoothly. But it’s also essential to consider the cost and whether it’s worth it. It’s ultimately a personal decision.

Legal Requirements To Get Married

Let’s talk about the legal requirements to get married in Italy as a tourist.

First, it’s important to note that to get legally married in Italy, at least one of the partners must reside in the municipality where the marriage occurs for at least 30 days before the ceremony. However, suppose you are coming to Italy as a tourist. In that case, you can legally marry in a religious or civil ceremony, but you must follow some steps to make it happen.

One of the first things you’ll need to do is to obtain a “Nulla Osta” document, which is a statement from your embassy or consulate stating that there is no legal impediment to your marriage. The Italian government requires this document to be translated into Italian by an official translator.

You’ll also need to provide a copy of your passport, your birth certificate, and a certificate of no impediment from your home country. These documents must be translated into Italian and apostilled by the Italian consulate in your home country.

It’s also important to note that the legal process can take some time, so it’s essential to plan accordingly. You’ll need to allow at least two weeks for the documents to be processed and translated, so plan accordingly.

It’s also worth noting that most of the towns in Italy require a publication of the banns, which is a public announcement of the impending marriage. This is usually done at the town hall where the marriage will occur, and it’s usually done on two Sundays before the wedding day.

All this legal process may seem a little overwhelming, but don’t worry! If you hire a wedding planner or a local vendor, they can help guide you through the process and ensure everything is in order.

Overall, getting legally married in Italy as a tourist can be more complicated than getting married at home. Proper preparation and guidance can be a beautiful and memorable experience.

Start your planning today!

And there you have it! Planning an Italy destination wedding may seem daunting, but trust us. It’s worth all the effort. The stunning scenery, delicious food and wine, rich history and culture, and friendly locals make Italy the perfect destination for your special day.

The legal process may seem complicated, but it can be smooth with the help of a local vendor or wedding planner.

So, if you dream of a destination wedding in Italy, don’t hesitate! Start planning your special day today and experience a wedding that will be simply unforgettable and astonishing. The memories you and your guests will create in Italy will last forever. And trust us; it will be your life’s most romantic and beautiful experience. Congratulations on your engagement, and good luck planning your dream Italian destination wedding!

Helpful Tips When You Plan A Hawaii Destination Wedding

So you’re planning a destination wedding in Hawaii. That’s awesome! We totally get all the reasons why you’d want to do that, but there are so many details to plan, and we can help. We’ve put together some helpful tips to ensure your special day is as perfect as possible. So let’s dive into it and see what you need to know about planning a Hawaii destination wedding!

Planning a Hawaiian wedding takes some serious work!

Planning a Hawaiian wedding takes some serious work! But it is well worth it. Many aspects of planning a destination wedding are specific to Hawaii and can sometimes be confusing. Here’s what you need to know:

  • The weather in Hawaii changes year-round. It will likely not be the same as your hometown or another Hawaii island. You should consider this when choosing your date and time!
  • The location matters! If you want an outdoor ceremony, you’ll have fewer options because September through November tends to be windier months with rough seas on the western side of Maui and Oahu (and sometimes Kauai).

If you want an indoor ceremony, there are many options. However, some of these locations may not be available on your preferred date because they book up quickly! The best time to get married in Hawaii is usually early morning or late afternoon.

Weather and climate in Hawaii

The weather and climate in Hawaii is tropical, with warm temperatures year-round. The average temperature of Hawaii’s main islands ranges from 75°F (24°C) to 80°F (27°C), but it can get as cool as 60°F (16°C) at night or as hot as 90°F (31°C) during the day. As a result of its proximity to the equator, there are no seasons in Hawaii—the weather is fairly predictable and moderate all year long.

Hawaii also has a good deal of annual rainfall due to trade winds that carry moisture from the tropical Pacific Ocean onto the islands; however, most rain falls between October and April.

What is the best time to get married in Hawaii?

Hawaii is a year-round destination, but there are some things to consider when deciding to plan a Hawaii destination wedding. The best time for weddings in Hawaii is between May and September. This period brings perfect weather, fewer crowds, and lower costs for your wedding day activities, such as photos or ceremonies on the beach. If you prefer cooler temperatures, then October through April could be an option for you as well.

There are many options available if you want a more formal wedding ceremony experience at any time of year, including churches, chapels, and other venues with indoor spaces that offer historical value in manor houses or plantation estates with beautiful views of tropical gardens or oceanfront locations like those found on Maui Island at The Fairmont Kea Lani Resort & Spa which has hosted many celebrity weddings over its 100+ years of operation including Carrie Underwood’s!

Where are you going to have your wedding ceremony?

Your wedding ceremony should be one of the most important decisions you make for your big day, so it’s a good idea to do some research and think about what kind of wedding you want before you book anything. Fortunately, Hawaii is full of beautiful locations that are perfect for weddings.

If you’re planning on getting married on a beach, there are dozens across the islands where you can have your ceremony surrounded by ocean views and sandy beaches. If you’d prefer something more intimate or traditional, plenty of gardens are available throughout all four islands and churches with lots of history.

Regardless of whether or not there are religious affiliations involved in your relationship (or if this isn’t important to either person), having a legally binding marriage ceremony in Hawaii requires both partners’ signatures on a marriage license application form at least 72 hours (three days) before getting married—so if anyone has any doubts about whether they want to get married in front of God or just each other and their closest family members, now’s the time to decide!

You can get married on any island, but one island is trendy!

You can get married on any island, but Oahu is especially popular. Do you know why? Oahu has the most wedding venues and is a great place to stay if you plan a destination wedding in Hawaii. However, if you need some inspiration, you should definitely check out our blog post about the 11 most beautiful Hawaii wedding venues. We are confident you’ll find the perfect venue for your Hawaii destination wedding!

What are the legal aspects of a Hawaii Destination wedding?

Let’s talk about the legal requirements to get married in Hawaii. We guess you want the paperwork done correctly so that your marriage certificate can be used as a legal document in your home country, right? You don’t want to spend money on a wedding only to find out later that it’s not legal.

The basic requirements for getting married in Hawaii are:

  • Both parties must be 18 years old or older (and provide ID)
  • Apply for a marriage license (which takes about 24 hours)
  • Find an officiant who will perform your ceremony – there are many options, from religious to non-denominational ceremonies.

The marriage license is valid for 30 days and can be used anywhere in Hawaii. After applying for your marriage license, which costs $60 per couple and can be paid by cash or credit card, you will receive an “Original Certificate of Marriage.” This document should be taken with you to your ceremony site and presented to the officiant for them to sign it. Unlike most states, Hawaii does not require couples to wait a certain number of days before getting married.

Happily, Hawaii is a place where same-sex weddings are common and accepted. With more than a third of the state’s population identifying as LGBT, it is one of the most gay-friendly places in America. In fact, Hawaii became the first state to recognize same-sex marriage when then-Gov. Linda Lingle signed into law a bill allowing couples to wed on November 13, 2013.

Time to start the planning in detail!

There’s no doubt that planning a destination wedding can be stressful, but you can make it easier on yourself by following some of these tips. They may seem like common sense, but they are often overlooked when people become overwhelmed by all the details. Remember to stay positive and don’t let anything get you down when planning your wonderful Hawaii destination wedding!

The Essential Elopement Checklist

Big weddings aren’t for everyone. If you and your partner are thinking about eloping, however, you won’t necessarily want to take off in the middle of the night. Instead, you’ll want to take a look at this elopement checklist so that you can avoid stress when eloping with the love of your life.

Start By Setting A Budget

Eloping is likely to be much more affordable than a big wedding, but you’ll still need to determine what you’re willing to spend. Do you have friends or family members that will be willing to pitch in for your elopement, or will you be funding the entire affair out of your own pocket?

A wedding couple is holding each other and they are standing in front of mountains and a sunset.

Paige Weber – www.paigeweberphotography.com

Your options will be determined by your budget, which is why you’ll want to know what you’re spending and where those funds will be coming from before you start seriously looking at your options. Whether you plan a small, low-key affair or a lavish destination wedding, having a budget on your elopement checklist will help you narrow down your options and put together a wedding that’s right for you.

Look At Potential Venues And Destinations

While elopements are known for being spontaneous, it’s best to do a little planning before you and your partner take off. Think about how far you’re comfortable traveling for your wedding. If you aren’t able to take much time off work, you may want to pick a closer home destination.

A wedding couple is walking through a dry meadow.

Ross Dance – www.rossdancephotography.com

Catherine Ekkelboom-White – www.wildconnectionsphotography.com

In addition to looking at wedding destinations as an elopement checklist point, you’ll want to look at venues that could work for your wedding. You’ll want to make sure that you’ll be able to plan your wedding at the last minute. Find a venue that you won’t have to book months or years in advance. For more inspiration, make sure to check out these 101 most epic and best places to elope in 2022.

Check Laws Before You Make Plans

A wedding isn’t just about committing to the person you love most. There are also legal aspects that need to be considered, so put that point down onto your elopement checklist. You’ll need to complete and submit marriage license forms ahead of time to get married in many areas.

Alternatively, you could have a wedding at your desired location and get legally married once you’re back home. You can think about pictures and memories when you choose your wedding venue, and you can complete paperwork at the courthouse later on.

Set Your Wedding Date

After you’ve decided where you’ll be getting married, what you’ll be spending, and have consulted the local laws, you’ll be able to start planning your wedding in earnest. This means that you’ll be able to choose a date for your elopement. Even if you know that you want to get married to your partner as soon as possible, you’ll need to settle on a specific date so that you can make travel plans.

A wedding couple is holding each other and their dog and standing on a mountain top.

There are a few other factors you’ll want to look at when you’re picking a date. Check the weather forecast to see what the weather will be like on your desired date. If you’re planning to elope during peak wedding season, you should be aware that costs will be higher. You may want to hold off on eloping for a few weeks – or even a few months – so that you can stretch your budget further.

Make Travel Plans

After you’ve confirmed a date and secured your venue, you’ll be able to start making travel plans. If you’re flying to your destination, you’ll want to confirm that you have everything you need for your flight. It may be necessary to obtain or renew your passport if you’re traveling out of the country. Obtaining a passport can take time, which is why you’ll want to consider this before deciding on a venue for your wedding.

A wedding couple is holding each other and is standing in front of a brick wall.

Antonio Jose Rodríguez López – Instagram

A wedding couple is holding hands and looking at each other whilst standing in the forest.

Ross Dance – www.rossdancephotography.com

If you’re going to be driving to your destination, you’ll need to decide if you’d prefer to take your own vehicle or if you’d rather rent a car. Traveling with your partner can be part of the fun of eloping. You may want to rent a special vehicle so that you can make the most of this trip.

Plan Your Wedding

While eloping can be a wonderful way to avoid some of the stress associated with wedding planning, there are still some things that you’ll need to decide before you say, “I do.” If you want to minimize the amount of planning you need to do, you may want to seek a venue that offers wedding packages. Check out these amazing elopement packages in New York or California by clicking on a wedding venue link.

If you’re going to be staying at your destination for at least one night, you’ll need to book accommodations. You’ll also want to think about what you’re going to wear for your wedding. While some people opt to wear more casual clothing when they elope, you could choose to wear a more traditional tux and gown. You’ll also want to think about things like flowers, hair and makeup, and a guest list. It’s best if you have a witness at a wedding, which is why you may want to invite a few people to celebrate with you. For example, some couples choose to bring their parents along when they elope. If you want to learn more about small weddings, check out these things you need to know when planning a micro wedding.

Last Point On Your Elopement Checklist: Find The Right Way To Announce Your Elopement

After the wedding is over, you’ll need to find the right way to share the good news with your family members and friends. If you want to avoid shocking people, you may want to send out announcements informing people of your plans before the wedding. This can be an excellent way to avoid hurt feelings when eloping.

A wedding couple is holding each other and standing at the beach.

Henry Tieu – www.henry-tieu.com

A wedding couple is touching foreheads and. standing at the mountain.

Lisa and Alex – www.vowofthewild.com

If you decide to let people know that you’ve eloped after the fact, you may want to make a personal announcement. Be aware that some people may be disappointed with your decision and may take this news poorly. To soften the blow, consider sharing plenty of photos of your elopement. Let your friends and family know how much you care about them and that you want to tell them more about this significant event in your life. Don’t wait too long to make the announcement. The longer you avoid telling people, the more likely it is that you’ll feel hurt.

What You Need To Know About Micro Weddings!

Imagine this, you are in the process of planning your wedding, and the picture in your mind is a small, affordable, and simple but intimate affair but still crave the traditional lovely curated experience. You are most definitely looking to have a micro wedding. These have become the new norm, especially in the wake of the pandemic, with all the protocols and social distancing guidelines in place. This new trend is suitable for minimalists and couples on a budget.

What is a Micro Wedding?

Micro weddings are small intimate affairs featuring time-honored traditions like having a beautiful décor, a photographer, cake, and décor but, on a smaller scale with a lean guest list of usually 20 to 50 people, usually close family members and a few friends. This, therefore, allows you to be surrounded by the people you love even as you enjoy each other. Most aspects of larger weddings can be incorporated in the micro wedding but typically with a more relaxed vibe. Micro weddings have spiked in the recent past, and they could be said to be the most trending marriage system in the US.

Should I have a Micro Wedding?

Intimate touch to your guests

Bearing in mind Micro weddings are small-scale events, they pretty much allow you to think about every guest and what you could offer them with personalized special touches? You could incorporate thoughtful tokens, which don’t have to be hugely expensive. Small gatherings will obviously ensure you have quality time to interact with your guests as they allow for a more relaxed vibe and lots of quality conversations in the excitement of your day.

Cost Implications

Being a small-scale close-knit event, micro weddings ensure you are providing for a limited number of invited guests compared to hundreds of guests in a large wedding, especially when you are looking at price per head basis. If your wedding is really small, you could choose to cut on a number of costs, like even decide to cater to your guests yourself with lovely prepared finger-foods or even bring on board the services of your favorite restaurant. Wedding favors and centerpieces can be an opportunity to save on your spending and even get creative in the process. You could as well choose to cut on the non-essential things on your checklist.

Bearing in mind the numbers are small, couples can most definitely choose to spoil their select few special guests to indulgent celebrations, which may include exclusively hiring out venues, having amazing destination weddings surrounded by loved ones, and creating amazing life experiences. It is therefore easy to be flexible cost-wise when you opt for a micro- wedding.

Flexibility

Micro weddings offer couples the flexibility to think outside the box and not be specifically tied to the demands, formalities, requirements, and expectations that come with large traditional weddings. Look at it this way; having a lean guest list with no tight schedules, fewer wedding comparisons, no formalities obviously gives you a leeway to enjoy your day and make it totally unique.

Perfect Venue Choice

A micro wedding allows you to scale down on a perfect but intimate location to say I DO! Having a smaller ceremony definitely means you can be even more flexible with where you do it. You could even choose to have the wedding in your home, a park with jaw-dropping views, magical city garden suites, or even an isolated location since you don’t need to worry about capacity. You can allow yourselves to venture into somewhere new and unexplored for your special moment. There is definitely plenty of opportunities to break away from the norm.

Less Planning time

Think of the fact that having a micro wedding means less work as there are fewer guests to think about and plan for than large numbers in traditional weddings. Most of the things on your to-do list can be reduced in time or even eliminated just by having a lean guest list. This means less stress and planning time for the couple.

Perfect Chance To Get Creative

Micro weddings offer you the perfect chance as a couple to bring forth your creativity and play with it for your perfect day. This will ensure the ceremony reflects who you are and can even come up with a theme that borders both traditional and modern wedding setups. You could even go as far as choosing a theme for both your guest to address in accordance with.

Key Pointers

A point to note, though, is that if this is the route you have chosen, you may not meet everybody’s expectations; therefore, it is important to stick to what makes the both of you happy and not letting anyone dissuade you. Some of the considerations to make if you are looking to have a Micro wedding include:

How many guests normally attend a micro wedding?

It is not possible to invite everyone. Otherwise, it will lack the meaning of an intimate event. Therefore, it is important to agree on a guest list with your fiancée. Here it is important to consider who you would want by your side on your big day, be it, family or friends, then be selective about it. Again if the current lockdown measures are to go by, your guest list might end up being leaner than you envisaged. Therefore, it is important to keep the list leaner with your nearest and dearest and cut out the fair-weather friends.

How much do micro weddings cost?

This is indeed very important. You can choose to do away with certain items or décor completely, for instance, elaborate transportation services. You could, however, choose to splurge on areas or items that are close to your heart and save on others. Be flexible. You ought to make up your mind and detach from cultural or traditional wedding demands. There is no rule book regarding the dress code for a micro wedding; you could choose to make it as simple or elaborate as you envision.

Do micro weddings need a Wedding Planner?

Small celebrations need planning, too, and you could get the services of a wedding planner so that you can pay attention to detail to ensure nothing important is left out.

Gifts

Gift Registry could still be necessary or having gift options for your wedding. Bearing in mind, you will be having close and intimate people besides you, they may most likely want to contribute to the start of your marriage life.

Several do-it-yourself (DIY) wedding favors you could consider for your intimate guests at your micro wedding. They are indeed a great way to make your budget go further. They may include but are not limited to:

Sweet Treats

You can purchase Retro Sweets in bulk and repackage them into beautiful glass jars with stripy bags. This gives you a chance to make sure your guests take away something sweet. You could also fill a jam jar with a homemade dessert or cake and further personalize it by engraving their names or adding a dash of printed cute photos on each.

Scented Candles

This is indeed a simple but stylish choice of gift. Soy Wax candles are perfect for a lean budget. You could fill jars with candle wax, attach labels with sweet personalized messages, and get budget scented candles from the store and attach personalized notes.

Custom Made Mugs

You can have customized mugs for each guest with their names and initials and probably add photos of yourselves to remind them of your happy day.

Potted plants

Small personalized potted plants can be the perfect choice of gifts for your guests, particularly passionate about gardening. You can also plant a bulb for them to grow and attach their names.

You can enjoy the northern lights, the midnight sun, look for sea eagles, or go kayaking between the islands. It is the perfect place to have a wedding in a mountainous region that has a much milder climate than other places of the world with such latitude.

Plan your wedding during late May and mid-July, and you will experience the midnight sun, whereas the northern lights can be best seen from September to mid-April. If you are an adventurous, nature-loving couple that would like to paddle in still waters of the north by midnight, enjoys surfing, and are looking for a stunning mountainous backdrop for their wedding, then the Lofoten is your place to be.
