“By chance, Emily and I connected in April via Instagram about her and Peter’s October wedding in Ruidosa, TX. I already had plans to be in the area on the weekend of their unique wedding for another celebration in this remote area. You can check out the other intimate desert wedding here! The stars aligned and in the coming months, Emily and I talked multiple times to iron out logistics of her and Peter’s day.

The couple…

Peter and Emily are a perfect balance – the yin and yang. Peter is a videographer and creative at heart. Emily has an organized and logistic mind. Both are incredibly kindhearted individuals who care deeply about people, travel, good food, and wine. When they both told me of their vision to host a small 50-person wedding at this Modern Solar Home, I was blown away and 100% all in!

The vision…

Their creative vision was one of a kind and made me excited to participate! Although the journey to this remote desert location is quite the trek, a small group of immediate family and friends traveled from various places, like Austin, Connecticut, Philadelphia, and all the way from Canada, to celebrate their unique adventure wedding day. I’ve never seen a group of people surround, support, and love a couple so well! Peter and Emily’s day holds a special place in my heart and was one of the most meaningful weddings I’ve captured to date.

The ceremony…

My favorite part of the day was the ceremony. They walked down the aisle hand and hand, exchanged hugs with both sides of the family, then had a ceremony integrating friends from different phases of life. Friends spoke to their character and shared fond stories. For anyone looking to make their ceremony more unique and meaningful, I HIGHLY recommend an event inspired by Peter and Emily’s wedding. There wasn’t a dry eye!”

“Whether she admits it or not, every bride (AND groom, for that matter!), has an idea of what a dream wedding looks like. For Devon and JonEric, they dreamed of a small and intimate House on the Hill wedding with as much DIY (do-it-yourself) as possible. With the help of their friends and family, they were able to pull it off. With hand-painted decor, lights strung outside the venue, and floral arrangements crafted from a friend – everything turned out just as they had dreamed.

Perched high on a hill with a stunning view, House on the Hill was the perfect venue for the wedding of their dreams. A small ceremony, a romantic dinner for two, a charcuterie spread, corn hole, and an outdoor dance surrounded by family and friends, this wedding was an absolute dream to shoot. As if that wasn’t enough, the delectable array of cupcakes and treats from Nothing Bundt Cakes was the cherry on top of a perfect day!

Wedding planning advice for a DIY wedding

When asked for any wedding planning advice, Devon said that their 18-month long engagement gave them plenty of time to collect liquor and wine bottles for their DIY centerpieces. The couple also told friends and family to collect bottles, which brought down the cost of the wedding. You’ll see these centerpieces in the photos, but I can honestly say that I have never seen so many incredibly crafted DIY decor pieces at a wedding. From letter boards, photo frames, chalkboards, party favors, and floral vases – this wedding was a do-it-yourself inspiration, and I had such a blast being a part of their special day!”

Texas Wedding by Nikkolas Nguyen // “I was honored to be the wedding photographer for Hailey and Quinten’s rustic, Texas wedding. To get to the venue, I took a peaceful drive through the countryside, where the landscape was gorgeous with its muddy roads and lush greenery. The Homestead at Old Potato Road is a beautiful location just a few hours outside Austin, Texas.

The atmosphere of this event was ideal for a wedding photographer like myself, super relaxed and easy-going. Those are definitely the times when I do my best work! Thanks to the wedding coordinator, it was a smooth day, and if there were any hiccups, I didn’t notice them one bit.

This rustic Texas wedding had a strong sense of closeness you could feel throughout the entire day, which only reinforced the familial focus that was so beautifully set up by both Hailey and Quinten. In fact, the whole day had a strong, intimate theme to it because, besides the caterer, photographer, and coordinator, everything else was done by family members.

I really loved the opportunity to capture so many moments between Hailey and Quinten that were rich with love and affection. It was such an unforgettable wedding day, and I think you’ll agree after seeing the shoot!”

Nikkolas Nguyen: “Getting to be a part of Alex and Jamie’s Bohemian-inspired Chateau Bellevue wedding was such an amazing experience for me as a wedding photographer. I’d never shot on location and after this unbelievable wedding, I wish I would have known about this gorgeous place a long time ago! Chateau Bellevue has a rich history going back over 100 years ago to its inception in 1874 and today it’s the location of the Austin Woman’s Club.

Even better than the location was the wonderful couple I had the joy and privilege of working with. Alex is a true princess in the best possible way, everything about the wedding was a magical and graceful reflection of her. She also has this very strong sense of discernment about her while Jamie is super care-free and filled with light-hearted fun. It’s so easy to see that these two are the perfect match for each other!

One of my favorite things about this wedding was the strong emphasis on family; both those that were in attendance and those who had passed on. It was really inspiring to see how they incorporated so many generations into this special day. I think you’ll really like looking through this shoot, enjoy!”

“There are receptions…and then there are RECEPTIONS. These guys partied harder than a lot of people I’ve seen. And I’VE SEEN THINGS. From one dog mom to another, I SO appreciated that Claire and Travis brought their golden Chase to celebrate his parents’ wedding. AND HE WAS SO DAPPER IN HIS VEST AND TIE. We quickly went over to The Kimball art museum to take some pictures, and it was so BEAUUUUTIFUL with all the architecture there. Back to MOPAC Event Center in Fort Worth for a seriously amazing wedding and some of the cutest flower girls I’ve ever seen. Also, Claire already promised me a puppy birthday shoot, so just look for that in the future…”
