A fresh start

These last few weeks have been significant for the LOOKSLIKEFILM Boudoir community. We combined boudoir ideas from our team members and developed LOOKSLIKEFILM Bare, a sister group to our leading group on Facebook. 

With a fresh start in the community, massive plans, and new and old faces coming together, it reminds me of what inspires us all to keep shooting boudoirs. The human form, the internal need to express business, and inspiration from everything around us- good ideas keep the boudoir community growing, whether business or art.

The start of LOOKSLIKEFILM Bare

LLF Bare just kicked off, and the quality content is already flowing from boudoir photographers worldwide. It is truly a unique place to be and see what goes into what we do as boudoir artists. Our sets, our lighting, the lingerie, the posing, the details, the makeup. Like most things, we shoot what ends up being impactful, and creative boudoir photos are more complex and challenging than what meets outsiders’ eyes. 

There are many different styles in boudoir photography, such as fine art, glamor, classic, erotica, dark and moody, vibrant and gloomy, light and romantic, etc. At times, many of these can overlap and intertwine. A single good idea in one style can easily inspire the rest, pushing us forward together. This is precisely why the group is such an exciting place. We can grow as artists and boudoir businesses when we push ourselves outside of labels and achieve something outside of the box.

The Best Boudoir Photographers in 2024

As a vast community, we have received many unique and incredible boudoir photos in the last few days, months, and even years. We are super proud of the astonishing work of our boudoir community, and we want to share a list of the best boudoir photographers with you! 

What are some of the hottest boudoir ideas in the industry that we are seeing? Let’s go over some that we see in the new group.

Bar Stool

Keeping it clean, classic, and stylish with a simple stool and a backdrop is a timeless boudoir idea if you’re looking for minimal props with maximum elegant effect.  

Bathtub

 Any tub will do the trick, but we see a lot of vintage-inspired clawfoot tubs in the boudoir industry right now because, let’s face it, their entire shape and vibe scream boudoir. So many boudoir ideas can be played out with a tub, from faux shower scenes to dry tub scenes to ones that include a natural bath. Glitter, flowers, bubbles, you name it- the boudoir ideas overflow.

Group empowerment

I am not sure there is anything more impressive than seeing a group of women feeling free and comfortable in their skin while standing together in solidarity. It’s an incredible way to bond, grow authentic connections in your business, and simultaneously showcase many types of bodies. That type of representation suits the company, your brand, your community, and women everywhere- it’s ideal for creative ideas to flow. 

Angel Wings

The enormous over-the-top ostrich feather wings sweeping down to the floor make such an impactful image because of the layering of feather textures and exquisite framing of your subject. It may seem like most boudoir studios have a set or multiple sets of wings at this point, and it’s for a good reason. Clients love to feel like Victoria’s Secret angel models. Nature

Sometimes, heading out of the studio is where it’s at. There is something about getting back to nature, getting back to basics with mother nature, shedding our clothes, that’s truly stunning.

The right rug can take you far when posing and creating beautiful images. We love seeing what photographers in the group develop their boudoir ideas using a rug.

Couple In Water by Ilaria Vecchi

“I recently came back to my home country (Italy) after studying photography in Canada. I was really looking forward to exploring more of my own country and discovering hidden gems. And then Covid happened. The lockdown was tough, the months that followed were not a walk in the park either. I’m not the kind of photographer who’s happy to only work in a studio. My creativity comes from working with people while exploring new places, so not being able to do what I’m most passionate about was really bringing me down.

Hot Springs in Tuscany

Once the restrictions started being lifted I got a little more hopeful. One day I randomly discovered these gorgeous hot springs in Tuscany while browsing through some Instagram travel accounts and thought it was crazy nobody had done a couple shoot there before (or at least I couldn’t find any photos anywhere). Even just by looking at the photos, I was starting to get ideas about how to use those gorgeous natural layers, which usually never happens (I tend to create in the moment).

Finding a couple

And then I randomly saw this post on a Facebook group of a girl who was planning a road trip to Italy in August with her boyfriend. She was looking for a couple who would trade shoots but I wrote to her saying I had a cool place I wanted to shoot at, pitched her the idea and she was thrilled. It all felt very serendipitous. We managed to find a day that worked for all of us and I drove 12 hours in a 24h span to shoot with them in this dream location in Tuscany.

The Day of the Photoshoot

We met in the afternoon, ate pizza together as we chatted and got to know each other better, then headed to Val d’Orcia for a sunset shoot before driving down to Saturnia. We were at these beautiful hot springs at 6 am and by 6.20 am the place was packed, but we were having so much fun we barely paid any attention to the people around us. The connection between these two amazing humans is so strong and beautiful I don’t think any photo would ever do it justice, but I definitely had a great time trying!”

Boudoir Session // As you may have noticed, there was a boudoir contest running here on LOOKSLIKEFILM a few weeks ago. We organized this contest with our friends from Do More Photographers. They are one of the most significant and most inspiring groups when it comes to boudoir photography! We from LLF are happy to be a part of the community as well and have found there this stunning boudoir session by Joao Guedes. This boudoir session is part of his project called “The Diaries Project” – a series of portraits of women’s intimate world. The whole session was video-captured to get the idea of his creative process for every scene, as part of his upcoming online workshop.

Forest Boudoir Session

Hey Josée! Tell us a little bit more about your stunning Forest Boudoir Session!

This intimate session took place in a Bavarian forest in Germany. It was amazing. The forest was full of ferns and we also found a beautiful little river. We were shooting at the end of the day. I simply love to shoot with the soft light in the evening. It makes everything a little bit more mysterious and sensual.

I think a boudoir couple session is a different and beautiful way to remember the love between two loving humans years later. And I do believe that this kind of photoshoot has to be shot in a really sensually way.

Aesthetic and sensuality are two important things in my photography. I like to represent love and tenderness in a deeply sensual, romantic and cinematic way. Therefore, I love to make such session out there in nature. It feels raw, pure and intense.

What about the gear? What did you use at this session?

I shot this whole session with a Nikon D750. Additional to this I used two lenses, the Sigma 35mm 1.4 and Sigma 50 mm 1.4.
